Babysitting at Oak Park Temple

Oak Park Temple offers babysitting services by Oak Park Temple teens in order to enable parents of young children to worship or participate in other Temple events. Unless otherwise stated, babysitting takes place in Room 15 in the school wing.

There are generally three types of services offered:

Friday night services: Free babysitting is provided for children who are in second grade and younger on most Friday evenings during regular worship services from 7:45 PM to 9:45 PM. Babysitting is generally not provided during family services. A light snack (crackers & apple juice) will be available for the children.

Sunday mornings: Babysitting is provided on Sunday mornings when religious school is in session between 9:15 AM and 12:15 PM for children age 5 and under who are not in religious school activities and whose parents wish to participate in any of the events happening in the synagogue at that time. A $5 fee per child is charged for this service.. A light snack (crackers & apple juice) will be available for the children.

Special events: Babysitting is provided for a variety of special events throughout the year. Babysitting for these events varies in cost and structure based on the event. Information regarding babysitting services will be published at the time of the event.

Parent Responsibilities:

  1. Parents must register their child when they bring them to the babysitting room and complete a name tag for their child.
  2. On Sunday mornings parents must pay at the time that they drop their child at babysitting.
  3. All children must be signed in and out. No child will be allowed to leave the baby sitting room without written permission from the parents.
  4. If your child is unduly upset, sick, unable to cooperate with the babysitters, or needs a diaper change, one of the sitters will come and get you.
  5. Parents must remain at Oak Park Temple at all times that their children are in the Babysitting room.
  6. Parents must pick up their child promptly at the end of worship services or morning synagogue activities.
